Operating through STAMATIOU MAXAKOULIS S.A., the Group has built a strong presence in the import and distribution of new and used coaches, minibuses, vans, and bus spare parts, offering an extensive selection of high-quality vehicles at highly competitive prices.

The strategic merger of the Stamatiou and Maxakoulis families in 2019 marked a significant milestone in the Greek bus industry. By combining A. Stamatiou’s long-standing expertise in new bus sales with Th. Maxakoulis’ extensive experience in the used bus and spare parts market, the two companies created SM Group, establishing one of the country’s most trusted and comprehensive bus solution providers.
Today, SM Group builds on more than 50 years of combined industry experience, continuously expanding its product portfolio while investing in sustainable growth and long-term partnerships.

As SM Group moves forward, it envisions sustainable growth and a broader range of bus products.

Milestones

1981

STAMATIOU S.A. is established in Thessaloniki and becomes the exclusive representative of Magirus Deutz vehicles and spare parts in Greece until 1986.

1987

The company signs an agreement with Kässbohrer Setra for the exclusive distribution of SETRA buses in Greece, including body manufacturing. With German know-how and technical expertise, Stamatiou develops a modern bus production facility in Thessaloniki, manufacturing 223 buses of various types.

1994

Exclusive partnership with Auwärter GmbH for the distribution of its mini and midi buses in the Greek market.

1995

Following the establishment of EvoBus GmbH, bringing together the Mercedes-Benz and SETRA brands, Stamatiou S.A. becomes the exclusive distributor of SETRA buses in both Greece and Cyprus.

1998 - 2005

SM Group’s predecessor achieves market leadership in Greece, maintaining a market share exceeding 40%. Between 1998 and 2002, 181 SETRA S300 and TopClass S400 buses are delivered, while 137 new SETRA buses are sold in 2003 alone. Sales continue to grow in 2004 and 2005, with an additional 215 buses delivered.
2004

2004

Mr. Thymios Maxakoulis begins his entrepreneurial activity in the Greek market as an independent dealer specialising in both new and pre-owned buses.

2006

The company relocates to its privately owned headquarters in Kantza, Athens, strategically located near Exit 17 of the Attiki Ring Road. The facilities cover 4,200 m², including 3,000 m² dedicated to service and showroom areas and 1,200 m² of modern office space.

2009-2012

Partnership with Polish manufacturer CMS Auto, expanding the product portfolio with reliable and cost-effective minibuses while continuing to offer premium-quality pre-owned buses from all major manufacturers

2011

Truck & Bus PB Sellers Ltd. is established in Athens

2011 - 2016

Truck & Bus PB Sellers becomes the dominant supplier of pre-owned buses in Greece, achieving approximately 60% market share.

2019

The shareholders establish a new company with a renewed ownership structure in partnership with the Stamatiou family. This strategic alliance leads to the creation of MAXAKOULIS S.A., laying the foundations for the future development of SM Group.

Today

With over 40 years of continuous presence in the Greek bus market, Stamatiou Buses S.A. has earned a reputation as one of the country’s most reliable bus suppliers. Its clientele includes Greece’s largest transport operators, KTEL organisations, tourist agencies, hotels and private fleet owners.
The company’s success is built on technical expertise, extensive industry experience, strong organisation and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.
Meanwhile, the Maxakoulis business, founded by Mr. Thymios Maxakoulis, quickly became the leading supplier of imported pre-owned buses and spare parts in Greece.
Within just five years, the company had secured approximately 60% of the national market, consistently achieving significant year-on-year growth in turnover.
